Nasreddine Nabi’s proposed deal to Kaizer Chiefs could be in jeopardy, according to a local report although nothing has been confirmed.

Soccer Laduma reports that Moroccan giants AS FAR are still hopeful of convincing Nabi to stay beyond the current campaign.

And this is because they still believe Nabi is the right man to lead the team to greater heights despite narrowly missing out on the Botola Pro League.

As things stand, Nabi still has a chance to win silverware with AS FAR in his first season in charge as the team is in the Moroccan Throne Cup semi-finals.

Now, according to the same report, the AS FAR hierarchy is hoping to convene a meeting with the Tunisian mentor after Saturday’s match against Maghreb Fes.

Should Nabi’s AS FAR advanced to the final, that could delay his unveiling as head coach of Chiefs who are reported to have concluded everything with him.

The only thing missing is for Nabi to put pen to paper and move to Naturena where he’s expected to turn things around for the better.

It is common knowledge that Chiefs have not won a major trophy in nine full years, and that has left their fans frustrated and heartbroken.

“It seems the club (AS FAR) believes that the Tunisian (Nabi) tactician can be the man to take them forward into the latter stages of the competition,” reads part of the report.

“The same report claims that the chiefs at FAR and Nabi will convene for a meeting after their Moroccan Throne Cup semi-final against Maghreb Fes on Sunday, with it said it is then that they will try to convince him to stay on as they look to navigate the way forward for the team.

“It has been rumoured that FAR and Chiefs have already agreed on a compensation package for the north African mentor, so it seems it will be up to him as to whether or not he decides to stay in Rabat or leave for Johannesburg.”

A lot is happening behind the scenes at Naturena with the management not only focusing on rebuilding the technical team but the squad as well.

As reported by The South African website, Chiefs are set to rope in experienced French-Portuguese mentor Fernando da Cruz to form part of Nabi’s technical team.

Furthermore, a number of players are set to to depart, and they include Njabulo Ngcobo and Jassond Gonzalez among others.
