The finalists for the MTN8 2022/23 season will be determined after the semi-finals second legs this weekend.

Only one player is suspended for the action.

On Saturday, Mamelodi Sundowns will host Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Satadium in the return leg after the first leg ended in a goalless draw at the Orlando Stadium.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs will on Sunday travel to AmaZulu for the return tie after they drew 1-1 in the first leg at the FNB Stadium.

Usuthu will be without Tercious Malepe who was shown a red card in their DStv Premiership outing against Maritzburg United on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old midfielder will sit out the first of his two-match suspension on Sunday.

In other news, AmaZulu head coach Romain Folz has insisted Kaizer Chiefs are not better than his side as the two clubs prepare to face off in their MTN8 semi-final second leg on Sunday.

‘Fohloza’, who joined Usuthu earlier this month, has overseen two games that ended in draws.

However, the former Marumo Gallants mentor seems happy with his charges’ performances.

The 32-year-old tactician believes they will be able to match the Soweto giants who are also desperate to reach the final as they aim to end a long trophy drought at Naturena.

FOLZ INSISTS CHEIEFS ARE NOT BETTER THAN USUTHU

“We have a plan to prevent Kaizer Chiefs from being a threat offensively against us, we also have a plan to be a threat against them,” Romain Folz said in the Media Open Day on Thursday.

“Yes, they have some good players offensively, I would say that we do as well.

“I’m not sure, honestly, I don’t think they are better than us offensively in terms of quality or anything same goes for every line on the field, whether it’s a midfield or defensively.

“So it’s gonna be a matter of who applies his strategy and his game plan the best on that day but as much as they have quality, we have quality as well to [be] at least in equal level.”
