Moroka Swallows have unveiled veteran midfielder Musa Nyatama as one of their latest signings ahead of their return to the top flight.

The Dube Birds return to the first tier of South African football after achieving outright promotion from the GladAfrica Championship in August.

The iconic Soweto outfit has embarked on a signing spree in preparation for their upcoming campaign, securing the services of the former Orlando Pirates player, who last turned out for Highlands Park.

This is after the sale of the Lions of the North’s PSL status to Mpumalanga-based outfit TS Galaxy.

Swallows announced their latest signing via their official Twitter page on Sunday.

Nyatama is the third Highlands Park player to pop up elsewhere since it was announced that the club would not take part in the top flight in the coming season.

Two of his former teammates in striker Peter Shalulile and midfielder Mothobi Mvala were earlier in the week unveiled as new Mamelodi Sundowns signings.

Nyatama will hope the move to Swallows helps continue the revival of his career, which appeared to have stalled during his final season at his new club’s oldest rivals.

Since his move to Highlands Park, the 33-year-old featured in all but two of the ten league matches played after he signed on the dotted line, and will aim to become a regular at the Birds as well.

Meanwhile, Swallows also announced the arrival of highly-rated winger Moeketsi Makhanya, who joined from first-division outfit JDR Stars.

The 24-year-old was reportedly sought after by some of the top-flight’s biggest stars, including ten-time league champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
