Kaizer Chiefs staff and players returned to Naturena on Monday for the first part of their preseason program.

Chiefs could be set for quite a gruelling preseason which could include a trip to Turkey as previously reported.

Chiefs looking for Turkish trip as part of Euro tour

The first report claimed that Chiefs were looking at Belgium and the Netherlands as possible destinations. Now with the claims that Turkey is a targeted destination, it was thought the other two were now off the table. But now according to a source speaking to Soccer-Laduma, it could potentially be part of a three-country trip. The source even goes further to suggest a game against  European giants Galatasaray could be on the cards for Amakhosi.

“They (Chiefs) are still looking at Belgium and Holland but they have added Turkey to their list. You remember they wanted the recommendations of the coach? Maybe he is the one who advised them to also add Turkey to the countries they need to tour. They are expected to play against Galatasaray there. Which is a big team and good for the preparations of a new season,”. Said the source.

A second source gave insight on the type of opposition Chiefs are hoping to play this preseason.

Possible clash with Galatasaray

“They (Chiefs) are also expected to host a team from Tanzania. They are doing that so that they look at how the team performs against European opposition as well as African counterparts. At the moment everything is in the pipeline and is as good as done both for Europe and the Tanzanian team,” said the source.

With this trip planned for early July supposedly, that means Chiefs should have announced some new faces by then. That would give incoming coach Nasreddine Nabi his technical staff and the new players a chance to adapt. It remains to be seen if this trip will be possible and when or if its announced.
