ERNST MIDDENDORP SENDS ARTHUR ZWANE MESSAGE TO KAIZER CHIEFS BOSSES

Following the Soweto giants’ decision to revamp the squad with new, younger talent and a revival of the original Chiefs playing style, Middendorp has said what the club’s next responsibility is.

“It’s a fantastic step what Chiefs started, but in this moment, now you have to stick to it because it’s not done in six months, in three months, to have an identity with a team,” the German said on Marawa Sports Worldwide.

“It’s not done by Sir Alex Ferguson, by Pep Guardiola or Ernst Middendorp or by Arthur Zwane.

“It needs time, you need to go into it. All the players you bring in, sometimes it’s research.

“The very, very value of a player, if you bring him to a new team, the real value comes out, often, only in the second season,” he added.

“It’s proven, it’s researched all over the world. Therefore now, with Chiefs, what they did, at the beginning of the season [building a new style and squad], fantastic, but now stick to it.

FOLLOW ON THE DECISION

The former Arminia Bielefeld, Asante Kotoko, Maritzburg United, Chippa United, Free State Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Golden Arrows coach, concluded to say it would be nonsense for Chiefs to consider changing the coach before the next two seasons.

Middendorp says the club has to stick with Zwane to achieve the project’s ambition.

“Stick to it in the next two years, three years, with the same coach and identify a style and identity a certain way to play where you can really say that’s the Chiefs style,” he added.

“It is not done in two or three months as people think.

“And not think oh, the management is observing Arthur Zwane. Nonsense, nonsense.

“You make this decision, you bring him, and then stick to it. Stick to it, go through and then at this moment, after the second season, then make your point on what was right and what was wrong,” Middendorp concluded.
