Massive day – and week – for Kaizer Chiefs’ top 8 hopes

After a few days of rest, the week ahead promises to be a MASSIVE one for Kaizer Chiefs in context of their DStv Premiership season.

After a few days of rest, the week ahead promises to be a MASSIVE one for Kaizer Chiefs in context of their 2020/21 DStv Premiership season.

Starting on Wednesday, 21 April, Amakhosi host Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium at 17:00.

Kaizer Chiefs are currently 10th in the DStv Premiership standings with 25 points after 21 matches.

While most supporters at this stage would settle for a top-eight finish and a place in next season’s MTN8 tournament, coach Gavin Hunt is on record as saying he is targeting a top FIVE finish.

That would indeed be some achievement for the club which has leaked 24 goals while only scoring 22 this campaign.

Cape Town City will be no pushovers as the seventh-placed team from the Mother City have ambitions of their own to finish as high up the standings as possible.

Following Wednesday’s match, Kaizer Chiefs will have four days before a blockbuster showdown with runaway log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, 25 April (15:00).

The Brazilians have been in prolific form this season and are currently unbeaten after 20 matches – the new record unbeaten start to any season in PSL history.

Gavin Hunt and his men will be in a far better position come Sunday evening to know whether their top-eight ambitious remain on track – or have been dashed beyond repair.
