Maritzburg United bolster squad with French striker

Maritzburg United have officially completed the signing of French striker Amadou Soukouna on a two year-deal.

Maritzburg United have officially completed the signing of French striker Amadou Soukouna on a two year-deal.

Soukouna is a 29-year-old journeyman who made a name for himself while on the books of Toulouse in France.

He also plied his trade in Bulgaria and Israel but most importantly, Soukouna is a former France junior international.

Speaking to the club website soon after putting pen to paper, Soukouna said it felt good to be part of Maritzburg United.

The lanky striker is ready to experience a new challenge and learn about the club, and he’s happy about how things have gone since he’s been part of the squad.

“I feel good to be playing for this team and hope that it’s good for everyone – the chairman, the club, the coach and for my team-mates,” said Soukouna.

“Now, I’m here to experience another challenge, another football culture.

“So, I’m excited for it and ready. I have a good feeling with the coach and training has been going well, I hope to keep it like this,” added Soukouna.

Soukouna will fight for a place in Ernst Middendorp’s starting XI with the likes of Richard Zumah, new signing Leletu Skelem and Bongokuhle Hlongwane.
