Royal AM owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has broken her silence following the critical injury suffered by the team’s goalkeeper Patrick Hugo Nyame who spent the last few days in a coma after a clash with SuperSport United this week.
Nyame sustained a head injury after a head-on-head collision with Matsatsantsa striker Bradley Grobler in the 94th minute of the game.
Royal AM lost the match 3-1 at the Atteridgeville Stadium in Pretoria.

MAMKHIZE GIVES UPDATE ON GOALKEEPER’S INJURY
Taking to Instagram, MaMkhize revealed that Nyame had suffered a “life-threatening head injury”.
She shared: “While it may have looked like a minor incident on TV, it was a severe concussion that affected his head/brain, he was in the ICU and in a coma for two days”.
The traumatic ordeal forced MaMkhize to make a “life-changing” decision to “save” the life of Nyame.
She continued: “You know, one wakes up in the morning excited to go support their team, and then the worst thing happens. We had to make a life-changing decision in order to save our keepers life.
“What’s difficult is that you still have to be strong for the rest of the team and tell everyone that everything is going to be okay even if you are not sure. Sbahle’s accident really taught me a lot on how to handle a situation like this”
MaMkhize added that Nyame was now conscious and was out of the ICU.
“[He] will now begin his recovery…. We wish him well and thank God that he is safe.”

While MaMkhize expressed her relief that the Royal AM player was on the mend, she also voiced her disappointment and annoyance that SuperSport United had not reached out to the player or the team.
She shared: “I am, however, disappointed that not a single person from the opposing team has picked up the phone or sent a message to check on his condition. What happened to sportsmanship? I guess we are not the same”.
Royal AM will face ZESCO United in the CAF Confederations Cup at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Sunday, 9 October.
