Reality TV star and Royal AM boss Shauwn Mkhize continues to shake up local football in a big way.

The club has recruited extensively and made a decent start to life in the top-flight but it seems that drive isn’t just happening among the playing staff.

Royal AM are even recruiting fans aggressively and it has been revealed that Orlando Pirates superfan Joy “MamaJoy” Chauke has sensationally ended her 32-year love affair with the Soweto giants.

Chauke says that she feels for MaMkhize, who has been beset with issues surrounding her club since a controversial decision denied them promotion last season.

Mamajoy moved to explain why she is now backing Royal AM and Shauwn Mkhize.

“Remember Mamkhize desperately wanted to get into the PSL and ended up buying the status of Bloemfontein Celtic,” Chauke told Kickoff.com.

“That showed how serious she wanted to own a top-flight PSL status.

“I don’t want to lie it touched me. I said to myself if this mama wants something she goes for it and she gets it.

“Our passion for football is the same. I want to learn a lot from her. As a mama let me support another mama. It’s women empowerment.

“I’m the one who approached her. I asked to be one of her club supporters. So we can recruit other supporters for the team so it can grow.

“I know Mamkhize she will be able to buy quality players to stay in the DStv Premiership. There’s no way Royal AM will get relegated. But even if she does I will go down with her, and come back with her again.

“I started supporting Pirates since 1989,” Chauke added. “But I started buying merchandise and attending games in 2001 when I moved to Gauteng.

“At the stadium, I used to sit behind the goals with the likes of Mzayoni.

“So one day during a team warm-up Peter Ndlovu struck me with a ball and I fainted. Pirates were facing Sundowns.

“After that, the late Zodwa Khoza said ‘from now on I don’t want to see you sitting behind the goals again. From today I want to see you sitting in the middle of the park, I’ve been sitting there ever since.'”

MamaJoy also rubbished the suggestion that she is after Mamkhize’s wealth.

“People will always assume the worst because of Mamkhize’s family status. People think maybe she promised me a salary or whatever, I’m going there as a supporter, not to get paid.

“I was not even getting paid at Pirates. Football is my life. People will always think about money.”

“I sent the club a message saying this has come up. To tell you the honest truth I haven’t heard anything back. So silence means consent.”
