Mamelodi Sundowns wiped Kaizer Chiefs from the PSL record books after claiming a 2-0 win over Tshwane rivals SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday, 29 November.

With their win, Masandawana returned to the top of the DStv Premiership standings.

The Brazilians, who had not played in the domestic league since late September, were leapfrogged at the head of the table by Cape Town City this past weekend, but goals from Peter Shalulile and Lucas Ribeiro helped them to a ninth successive DStv Premiership win since the start of the season – a new PSL record.

Mamelodi Sundowns had, prior to kick-off, jointly held the record of eight wins to start a season with the Amakhosi team from the 2014/15 season.

But Rhulani Mokwena’s men are now the sole owners of yet another PSL record.
