Mamelodi Sundowns VETERAN signs new deal at the club!

Mamelodi Sundowns’ veteran Zambian goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene is set to surpass the decade mark at the club!

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene has signed a new deal which will see him remain at the Brazilians for over a decade!

Mweene joined the Brazilians in 2013 from fellow PSL side Free State Stars before going on to become an integral part of a golden era at Chloorkop.

Though the 37-year-old goalkeeper has played second fiddle to Denis Onyango at Mamelodi Sundowns, when called upon he has indeed served the club with excellency.

His consistency has since earned him a new deal at the Brazilians. Mweene made 11 appearances so far this season while keeping seven cleansheets.

Mamelodi Sundowns veteran signs new deal!

“KickOff can confirm that Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene will be staying on at the club to complete a decade’s service after putting pen to paper on a new deal.” a Kick-off report read.

“With the new deal that Mweene has signed at Mamelodi Sundowns, he could possibly go on to also top up 20 years playing professional football in South Africa.

“The deal that Mweene has agreed to will first make him join the class of selected stars to spend a decade at Chloorkop which includes Esrom Nyandoro, Mike Manzini, Hlompho Kekana, Surprise Moriri, Isaac Shai and Daniel Mudau amongst others.”

The Brazilians have four world class goalkeepers to call upon in the form of Reeyad Pieterse, Ricardo Goss, Kennedy Mweene and Denis Onyango.

All four of the above mentioned keepers have featured for Mamelodi Sundowns during the course of the current season.
