Sundowns now want Ronwen Williams on top of Mbule & Mokoena – report

Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly set sights on signing SuperSport United goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams before 31 August.

Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly set sights on signing SuperSport United goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams before 31 August.

And that’s in addition to Sipho Mbule and Teboho Mokoena whom they have also inquired about in an attempt to sign.

According to Soccer Laduma, Williams has emerged as a serious target for Sundowns who recently released Jody February to Swallows FC.

As things stand, Sundowns have four goalkeepers in Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene, Reyaad Pieterse and Ricardo Goss.

And their reported interest in Williams comes as a major surprise given that both Pieterse and Goss haven’t been getting enough game since joining the club.

The publication reports that Sundowns are willing to offer cash plus a few of their fringe players to sweeten the deal for the trio.

The trio still have long-term contracts with SuperSport United, meaning Sundowns will have to dig deep into their pockets to convince their rivals to entertain any offers.

Mbule and Mokoena are also reported to be on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs although Stuart Baxter admitted last week that the duo are ‘quite expensive’.

Williams, on the other hand, was previously reported to be wanted by Orlando Pirates although the player, himself, maintained that there had be no contact from the Soweto giants.
