Mamelodi Sundowns smash Kaizer Chiefs’ 16-year long record!

Mamelodi Sundowns are breaking all kinds of records in the PSL this term, and their win over Golden Arrows saw them smash Kaizer Chiefs’ long-standing record.

Mamelodi Sundowns are breaking all kinds of records in the PSL this term, and their win over Golden Arrows saw them smash Kaizer Chiefs‘ long-standing record.

On Wednesday, the Brazilians beat Abafana Bes’thende 1-0 at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium to cement their spot at the top of the DStv Premiership log.

In so doing, Sundowns matched Amakhosi’s record for the most unbeaten league matches away from home split over two seasons (21).

Interestingly, the record stood for 16 years, and with the year still a few months before its end, Sundowns have a chance to set a new South African record.

Chiefs achieved this between January 2005 and December 2005, and it took Sundowns just over a year to equal it.

Sundowns’ next away league game is on 7 November against Marumo Gallants, and should they avoid defeat on the day, they will be the undisputed kings of away matches in the PSL.
