Mamelodi Sundowns to be smarter with out-of-favour midfielder

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly weighing up their options on how best they can deal with the situation of their out-of-favour midfielder.

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly weighing up their options on how best they can deal with the situation of their out-of-favour midfielder.

According to a report by SABC Sport, Sundowns don’t want to lose Lesedi Kapinga for free, and could be tempted to trigger the option they have on his deal.

Kapinga’s current deal expires on 30 June, and with his lack of game time and report that he’s not in Rhulani Mokwena’s plans, he could force to leave.

However, the publication reports that Sundowns could use Kapinga to sweeten a few deals they would like to get over the line for next season.

Cape Town City and SuperSport United are reported to be the two sides Sundowns have engaged regarding Kapinga as they want Khanyisa Mayo and Thapelo Maseko respectively.

Both Mayo and Maseko have long-term contracts with their respective teams, but Sundowns are willing to offer cash plus Kapinga in luring their targets.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TO USE KAPINGA AS BAIT?

“SABC Sport has it on good authority that Sundowns have had conversations with, among other clubs, SuperSport United and Cape Town City about the player in exchange for their key figures.

“The reigning league champions are keen on luring teenage attacker Thapelo Maseko from SuperSport or striker Khanyisa Mayo from City, but the duo both have long-term contracts with their respective clubs and won’t come cheap.

“Downs are willing to offer money-plus-Kapinga, who is not part of coach Rulani Mokwena’s plans moving forward, to try and get the deals over the line,” reads part of the report.

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine de Reuck has signed a new three-year deal after a solid stint over the last three seasons.

According to iDiski Times, talks between De Reuck and Sundowns had been ongoing since last year, and the two parties have finally agreed.
