Mamelodi Sundowns transfer news is here, with two players leaving Chloorkop, however one is going out on loan, as per iDiski Times. Sundowns have officially bid farewell to Kenyan defender Brian Mandela Onyango after a productive four-season spell with the club. This decision marks the end of an era for the 29-year-old player. He joined Sundowns as a free agent in July 2019 after a successful stint with Maritzburg United.

During his time at Sundowns, Onyango showcased his defensive prowess. Making over 61 appearances and scoring two crucial goals for the team. His tenure was highlighted by winning six trophies, including three league titles and the prestigious African Football League trophy. However, despite his initial impact, Onyango’s playing time diminished in the 2023/2024 season as he fell down the pecking order. He only managed three starts and nine appearances overall.

Confirmation of departure

The departure of Brian Mandela Onyango from Sundowns was confirmed by Head Coach Rulani Mokwena during an interview with Mmasekepe Matsebane on PowerFM. This move follows the club’s decision not to extend his contract. Which was set to expire at the end of June. Signalling the end of Onyango’s journey with Masandawana as they are known.

In related news, Sundowns’ goalkeeper Ismael Watenga is poised to return to Lamontville Golden Arrows on a season-long loan. The 29-year-old Ugandan shot-stopper, who had previously enjoyed loan spells at Chippa United, Marumo Gallants, and Golden Arrows. Looks is set for another stint with the latter, which is Arrows. Watenga impressed during the 2023/2024 season, making 19 league appearances and keeping four clean sheets, demonstrating his value to this team.
