MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TO PROMOTE KENNEDY MWEENE

“Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed veteran goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene has begun his apprenticeship as part of the club’s technical team set-up having made his debut on the bench on Saturday,” SABC Sport‘s Mazola Molefe reported.

“The 38-year-old shot stopper stood in for goalkeeper coach Wendell Robinson, who is serving a two-match suspension after he was red carded last weekend, and Mweene plugged in the gap against Orlando Pirates,” the report added.

According to coach Mokwena, hiring Mweene as the club’s next goalkeeper coach is rather a no-brainer.

COACHING BADGES

“He’s going to be doing his coaching badges very soon – he’s just applied for that. And it’s only that natural progression in life when you move from playing and have a keen interest in coaching. Kennedy has that,” Mokwena said.

“He has been an incredible servant for this football club, and in SA football. He has won the CAF Champions League, the Afcon and so there’s incredible benefits for the club to inherit in a coaching capacity.

“The universe works in incredible ways, even when we deem ourselves not ready…God calls you to step up and respond to the calling,” the Sundowns tactician concluded.
