Most football fans are either pro-Messi or Ronaldo. For Mamelodi Sundowns’ Hlompho Kekana, the Argentine has the magic.

Remember when Sundowns brought FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi to Mzansi? That was the night Hlompho Kekana has never quite forgotten.

Speaking to the media in the past week, Kekana did what millions of us have attempted: predict this year’s World Cup champions.
According to the Zebediela-born legend, Argentine should become the champions as they have the great Messi in the side.
“I have a soft spot for Lionel Messi simply because I have met him personally,” Kekana said via FARPost.

“And I know what he puts into the game, and I believe he deserves to win the World Cup.
“Messi is a player that we can agree and disagree is the world’s best. I believe he is the best,” the former Sundowns number six concluded.
Despite the shock loss to Saudi-Arabia on Tuesday, Argentina still have an opportunity make the last 16. The South Americans need victories against Mexico and Poland in Group C.

Meanwhile, the former Sundowns captain has offered great credit to Amakhosi’s starman Maart.
Following the now famous long-range goal in the Soweto derby last month, the master of such goals, Kekana has described what it means to take decisions like that.
