Rhulani distances himself from Jali’s Sundowns future

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena has highlighted his lack of involvement in Andile Jali’s contractual issues.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS: MORE WAIT ON ANDILE JALI

With the 32-year-old player’s contract ending in June, the Matatilele-born star is yet to sign a new deal with Kabo Yellow.

According to Mokwena, Jali’s is an immense figure at the club but the player’s business negotiations are not part of the young coach’s matters. Rhulani has said there is a management team to deal with those issues, and an announcement will be made in due course.

“AJ is a very important player for us,” Mokwena said as quoted by iDiskiTimes.

“[He is] important for the future of this football club, [he has] incredible leadership qualities, very important to have around – the mentality, the insight.

“I even use him as a third-fourth assistant coach to tell you truth because he sits on the bench, he gives me a lot of information what he sees. He’s got incredible experience, AJ.

“Apart from the human qualities, which is some that we appreciate and love having in the club, that’s from a football perspective.

“The contractual and financial issues are handled in a different department at the football club and I’m sure that when there is an update to be given, the club will handle that,” the Sundowns coach concluded.
