Mamelodi Sundowns now linked with former Kaizer Chiefs defender

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly keen on signing a former Kaizer Chiefs defender who is currently a free agent.

According to Isolezwe, Siyanda Xulu is on the radar of the Brazilians who confirmed being in the market for a centre-back following a number of injuries to their regulars this season.

Xulu is currently keeping fit with AmaZulu after having terminated his contract with Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv in February.

And while AmaZulu are yet to decide on whether or not to sign Xulu, they may soon miss out on him if reports linking him to Sundowns are anything to go by.

SIYANDA XULU IS A FORMER MAMELODI SUNDOWNS AND KAIZER CHIEFS DEFENDER

Xulu started his professional football career at Sundowns in 2009 before leaving them for Russian outfit FC Rostov in 2012.

The lanky defender spent three years in Russia, but he would decide to return to the PSL to sign for Kaizer Chiefs in 2015.

Xulu had a forgettable two years at Naturena as the club offloaded him in 2017 – the Durban-born defender would join Maritzburg United where he really revived his career.

During his three-year stay with the Team of Choice, Xulu did enough to catch the eye of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos who brought him back to the setup.

And his return to Bafana Bafana did him a world of good as he attracted interest from Hapoel Tel Aviv at the start of the 2020-21 season.
