Mamelodi Sundowns latest | Kekana stops training with first team – report

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has reportedly stopped training with the first team as his future continues to hang in the balance.

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has reportedly stopped training with the first team as his future continues to hang in the balance.

According to Soccer Laduma, Kekana was told that he won’t be getting any game time with the Tshwane giants this season.

The same publication reports that Kekana could either leave Sundowns permanently in search of a new home or be roped in a different role within the club.

Now, with the PSL transfer window closing on Tuesday, 31 August 2021, Kekana has a tough decision to make regarding his future.

Ironically, Kekana still has a contract with Sundowns which runs until the end of the June 2024.

The 36-year-old midfielder has been with Sundowns for 10 years, and has won a number of trophies, including the CAF Champions League.

His now former teammate, Tiyani Mabunda, was recently told he no longer had place in the Sundowns first team – and found himself between a rock and a hard place.

A final decision on whether or not Kekana will be staying at Sundowns could be made in the next 24 hours.
