Mamelodi Sundowns flop Mauricio Affonso has officially left South Africa after weeks of speculation around his future at Chloorkop.

Mamelodi Sundowns flop Mauricio Affonso has officially left South Africa after weeks of speculation around his future at Chloorkop.

Affonso, who struggled to cement his place in the Sundowns team over the last two years, has joined Uruguayan outfit River Plate.
He was unveiled by the Uruguayan giants on Thursday, and it’s unclear at this stage, whether or not he joined River Plate on a free transfer.

Affonso came in highly rated from South America in 2019 but he failed to hit the ground running at Sundowns.

The lanky striker could only manage six goals in 22 competitive matches for the Brazilians over a period of two years.
Nonetheless, his struggles can be attributed to long-term injuries he suffered during his time with the Tshwane giants.
