Mamelodi Sundowns dominate PSL monthly awards

Mamelodi Sundowns have taken their dominance in the field of play to the PSL monthly awards as three of their members have been rewarded for May/June.

Mamelodi Sundowns have taken their dominance in the field of play into the PSL monthly awards as three of their members have been rewarded for May/June.

On Thursday, the PSL awarded Sundowns co-coaches Manqoba Mngqithi and Rhulani Mokwena with the Coach of the Month award.

The duo led Sundowns to a record-four league titles during the month of May before ensuring that the club finishes the season unbeaten away from home with Wednesday’s 2-0 over Bloemfontein Celtic.

Under Mngqithi and Mokwena with the assistance of Steve Komphela, Sundowns find themselves comfortable at the top of the standings with 64 points from 29 league games.

Meanwhile, another Sundowns member in Peter Shalulile, has also been rewarded with the Player of the Month award.

The Namibia international has been in red-hot form for the Brazilians this season, and between May and June, Shalulile scored four goals in five league matches.

He netted both goals as Sundowns beat Phunya Sele Sele in the Free State on Wednesday night.

He has undoubtedly raised his hand for the Footballer of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season awards this coming weekend.
