Mamelodi Sundowns complete the ‘treble’ with Nedbank Cup win

Mamelodi Sundowns added the Nedbank Cup title to their trophy cabinet with victory in extra-time against Marumo Gallants on Saturday.

In doing so, Masandawana completed the domestic ‘treble’ having previously won the MTN8 as well as the DStv Premiership titles.

Peter Shalulile scored for Mamelodi Sundowns – again

The Brazilians took a 33rd-minute lead through Namibian striker Peter Shalulile, but Marumo Gallants grabbed an equaliser through Ivorian midfielder Sede Junior Dion in the 75th minute.

The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, forcing extra-time to be played at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Thapelo Morena proved to be the hero for Mamelodi Sundowns, scoring the winner in the 120th minute.

Marumo Gallants will have to console themselves with the fact that they clinched a CAF Confederation Cup spot next season, while Mamelodi Sundowns will contest the CAF Champions League.
