Mamelodi Sundowns coach Mngqithi highlights Orlando Pirates’ weakness

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has highlighted Orlando Pirates‘ weakness ahead of Saturday’s league encounter at the Orlando Stadium.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

Speaking to the media, Mngqithi said while Pirates are one of the strongest teams in the league on transition, that is also one of their weaknesses.

“We know Pirates, on transition, have always been one of the strongest teams in the country,” he couldn’t,” Mngqithi told reporters.

“But be that as it may, that also becomes a very big weakness on their side.”

According to Mngqithi, Pirates are not so good when it comes to defending upon losing possession of the ball during their transitions.

And that’s where Mngqithi believes Sundowns can capitalize and get behind the Pirates defence for goalscoring chances.

“They also not very good with rest defence, they are open sometimes when they lose possession of the ball,” he continued.

“So, it’s important to have that proper balance of dealing with their transitions and good counter-pressing and also, maybe some good rest defence. 

“But also ready to counter the counter because we might get something in that space,” added Mngqithi.
