JUNIOR KHANYE SAYS SUNDOWNS WERE STRUGGLING JUST LIKE CAPE TOWN CITY

Idiski TV football analyst Junior Khanye said Mamelodi Sundowns struggled at times, particularly in the first half.

“They started to play I think second half but they just scored goals they never played beautifully,” he said on Idiski TV’s podcast.

“Sundowns got opportunities to score goals after [Teboho] Mokoena, Neo Maema, and [Haashim] Domingo came to the party.

Khanye went on to criticise Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler’s starting line-up, saying Thato Mokeke should have been played in his normal position as a deep-lying playmaker.

“His [Eric Tinkler] team was not balanced, why you make Mokeke a centre-back?” he asked.

“Mokeke is a defensive midfielder, he is the link in the midfield. Cape Town City play because of Mokeke.

“They were playing on transition, they always wanted to hit Sundowns on a break attack, they were not combining.

“Nodada was off, I think Mdantsane was off as well and it’s because Mokeke was a centre-back, so they relied on a break attack, unfortunately, the plan didn’t work.”
