Did anyone know just how much Hlompho Kekana highly regards former Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe? We certainly didn’t.

FORMER MAMELODI SUNDOWNS PRESIDENT PATRICE MOTSEPE CHANGED HLOMPHO KEKANA

As confirmed by the DStv Premiership champions on Friday morning, the club’s former president, Patrice Motsepe, who these days does his work as CAF president, celebrated his 60th birthday.

As a player who spent over 10 years at Mamelodi Sundowns, a birthday message from Hlompho Kekana was probably expected, but perhaps not as heartfelt as it was.

The former Bafana Bafana star, who is yet to find a new club since leaving Kabo Yellow, went on his Twitter to wish Motsepe a happy birthday – but it was more than just an ordinary wish.

“Happy birthday to the CAF president,” Kekana said.

“The man has influenced my life in so many ways and today we celebrate him,” added the Zabadiele-born star.

THE NINE MIDFIELDER OPTIONS AFTER MOKOENA DEAL

In case you’ve been hiding somewhere, Mamelodi Sundowns announced signing Teboho Mokoena on Thursday afternoon.

As The South African reported less than 24 hours ago, the 25-year-old star left SuperSport United to join the DStv Premiership champions.

The central midfielder put pen to paper to join the mighty Mamelodi Sundowns on a three-and-half year deal – including a one-year option to extend.

“I want to take this time to show appreciation, I am very proud of this achievement and I’m also happy with the decision that I made to join Mamelodi Sundowns,” he said.

So with an extraordinary title like Mokoena arriving at Chloorkop, will he compete with? Who could he partner in midfield? Who is more gifted than him? Is he the best of them all on paper? Read the full story here.
