Mamelodi Sundowns linked with another foreign international star

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly interested in signing another foreign international star who undoubtedly won’t come cheap.

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly interested in signing another foreign international star who undoubtedly won’t come cheap.

According to UnplayableZA, Sundowns have shown interest in winger Ismael Diaz who was born in Panama but currently plays in Ecuador for CD Universidad Catolica.

WHO IS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ NEW TARGET ISMAEL DIAZ

Diaz is a 25-year-old winger who was born on 12 May 1997, and his talent was nurtured in Europe with FC Porto who later promoted him to the first team.

He has been with Catolica for two seasons now, featuring in 39 competitive matches for them while scoring 19 points and providing eight assists in the process.

Should Sundowns pull this reported deal through, they may not necessarily have to make sacrifices in making room for Diaz as their foreign quota is currently full.

And that’s because Uruguayan attacker Gaston Sirino will qualify for the South African citizenship ahead of the 2023-24 season.

As things stand, Sundowns have Ahmed Nasir (Ethiopia), Abdelmounaim Boutouil (Morocco), Marcelo Allende (Chile), Erwin Saavedra (Uruguay) and Sirino as their foreign internationals.
