Kaizer Chiefs are currently in the market to bolster their striker rankings but it seems like their pursuit is getting more complicated.

Kaizer Chiefs are currently in the market to bolster their striker rankings but it seems like their pursuit is getting more complicated.

Chiefs are thought to be interested in signing Marumo Gallants striker Ranga Chivaviro, but it seems like they have been beaten to him.

It has been no secret that Chiefs are looking to boost their numbers upfront, with Chivaviro being one of their preferred targets. In fact, just earlier this week, Chiefs seemed to make a surprise late surge for Chivaviro as this publication reported that Amakhosi had made contact with the player’s agent, in an effort to bring the player to the club.

Besides Chivaviro, though, Chiefs have been linked to a whole host of strikers such as the likes of Ashley Cupido, Benson Omala, Fiston Mayele, Iqraam Rayners, Etios Ighodaro and Eric Sadia. But it seemed as if, they may have settled on the former Venda Academy star. There have since been so many contrasting reports. On Friday this publication reported that the player had turned down a R3 million rand package from Libyan side Al Akhdar.

But on Wednesday it was reported that Chivaviro had already put pen to paper on a deal for Richards Bay FC and that it was a mere formality before it was announced. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, he has already committed to another team, Yanga SC in another blow Chiefs.

“He has agreed to personal terms and he has been offered a three-year contract. I am not sure of the signing on fee and salary because they were calculating them in US dollars. They wanted either (Khanyisa) Mayo from Cape Town City or Chivaviro but they ended up settling for Chivaviro because of his experience,” said a source to the publication.

They then contacted Yanga president Hersi Ally who said he could only speak on the situation later,
