Ncikazi recently spoke to FARPost about the players he wanted to sign during the January transfer window.

One of the biggest names in football came up… Messi, a true goat and legend!

“We are always ambitious, if we had enough resources like others maybe I would bring a (Lionel) Messi to Pirates,” Ncikazi said.

“But having said that, we are never enough. There are areas that you would wish (to strengthen). But sometimes the timing of bringing players which I think becomes important in our team. When and how they bring the players, we respect their wisdom and vision on how they do it. But personally, I would have loved to have certain players but we respect the processes of the club on how they do things,” added Ncikazi.

Of course Ncikazi would want Messi at Pirates, as would any coach in the world.

Imagine seeing Messi link up with Thembinkosi Lorch – a dream and a half! The Soweto derby history would change forever and so would the PSL.

Now, Pirates will be focusing on their squad depth as they look to challenge for the CAF Confederation Cup and Nedbank Cup.

In the DStv Premiership, they are fighting to finish second to qualify for the CAF Champions League next season.
