Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Darren Keet has revealed why he joined Cape Town City after interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Keet felt that his conversations with the Soweto Giants weren’t going anywhere and when a concrete offer from Cape Town City emerged he jumped at the chance.

“I chatted to Gavin when he was at Chiefs a bit, I spoke to the Khoza’s a few times, well I didn’t speak to them personally, my agent spoke to them,” Keet told iDiski Times.

“We had some conversations, but there was nothing really concrete.”

Kaizer Chiefs have revealed that Philani Zulu, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, and Yagan Sasman are all set to be released.

It has been no secret that Kaizer Chiefs have sought to specifically reinforce the left side of defence and none of the trio have covered themselves in glory in black and gold for the last few seasons.

Chiefs have signed out-and-out left backs in Sibusiso Mabiliso and Sfiso Hlanti and have also brought in Austin Dube, a central defender who can cover on the left flank.

Williams remains loyal to SuperSport United, for now

Ronwen Williams has affirmed his commitment to SuperSport United amid interest from Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

In an interview with Kickoff magazine, Williams said: “My desire has always been to thank the club for giving me the nice life that I am now living by winning them the league.

“If the club feels that they don’t need me anymore and I need to move on the ball is always in their court. If the club comes to me and says we are fighting only for top eight, then I will cut ties and say, ‘that is not what I want to achieve because I want to win the league’.

“That way we will have to shake hands and separate in a professional manner. So, I am not saying I will stay at SuperSport for the rest of my life. I would love to but if our goals are not the same then we need to shake hands. Over the years our squad at SuperSport has become thinner and have let ourselves down as a team.”
