Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has reportedly taken a hit to his endorsement earnings after being dropped by Danone.

Soccer Laduma reports that Danone have opted not to renew their sponsorship of Khune who endorsed the companies Danup range of drinking yoghurt.

Khune loses out on Danup deal

Khune became attached to the prominent brand back in 2016, at the time causing a storm at Naturena as the club tried to block the deal due to the star’s failure to get approval for the deal ahead of time. Kaizer Chiefs relented, however, and Khune appeared in a series of advertisements.

The former Kaizer Chiefs captain would also extensively promote Danup on his social media channels. Khune is curently the most followed South African footballer on Instagram with over 900 000 followers.

He may still have tremendous clout on social media but on the field Khune’s star has been waning as injuries and poor form have left him struggling to re-establish himself as the club’s number one.
