While Mamelodi Sundowns have long-since wrapped up a fifth consecutive league title, the victory kept Kaizer Chiefs in the hunt for second place and its prize money of R7.5 million.

In addition, the DStv Premiership runners-up will qualify for the 2022/23 CAF Champions League (along with Mamelodi Sundowns).

The third placed finisher will book a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup (along with Marumo Gallants as their Nedbank Cup final opponents Mamelodi Sundowns have already secured a CAF Champions League slot).

Currently Royal AM occupy second place ahead of Cape Town City FC on goal difference, with Kaizer Chiefs fourth, three points behind with three rounds remaining.
