The Buccaneers were forced to play the final 30 minutes of the match with 10 men after Innocent Maela received a straight red card in the 60th minute, but looked well on their way to securing a point.

However, an 89th-minute own goal by Nigeria’s Olisa Ndah gave the Glamour Boys all three points.

Kaizer Chiefs stayed 5th in the log

Despite their defeat, Orlando Pirates stayed in third place in the standings with Kaizer Chiefs in fifth spot, level on points with their bitter rivals after 21 of 30 matches in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

The Buccaneers will next be in action away against Swallows on Friday, 3 March at 19:30, while Amakhosi’s next assignment is on the road against Richards Bay on Saturday, 4 March at 15:30.
