Amakhosi have endured a tough first half of their 2020/21 DStv Premiership season following the arrival of Hunt from Bidvest Wits.

Kaizer Chiefs currently lie eighth in the standings heading into the second half of the season.

They could drop lower depending on how other matches pan out this week.

Gavin Hunt has discussed his targets for the club for the remainder of the season.

“At a club like Kaizer Chiefs, you can’t be building for the future, that’s what I believe. But we’re in the situation we’re in,” Hunt told reporters.

“If you take our points now and double it, you’re not going to win the league, you know that. So, that’s going to be [difficult]; we’re going to have to do the best we can.

Kaizer Chiefs currently have 18 points at the halfway mark. Doubling that (36) would not be enough to win the league title. Current log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns already have 33 points.

“So, right now, it’s one game at a time; try and get through the next game; try and reset our goals and that’s all I can do in terms of [this season] – we all know the situation.

“So I believe in the players we’ve got but they certainly need to do better, there’s no doubt about it. And everybody’s in the shop window for me.

“They need to put their hands up and show that they want to play. Right now, we’ve just got to go one game at a time.”
