The league took the matter involving Chiefs and the two missed fixtures in December 2021 to the South Gauteng High Court after losing the arbitration.

They had initially requested for the postponement of those matches but the league rejected it, charged Chiefs and summoned them before the PSL Disciplinary Committee.

However, Chiefs took the matter to the South African Football Association (SAFA) arbitration where they were won the case to have the matches replayed.

While the league complied with the arbitration award by agreeing to reschedule the two matches, they still proceeded with the same matter to the High Court as they felt the arbitration had erred.

Nonetheless, Chiefs have seen no need to go ahead and oppose the league’s application as they lost both matches – first to Golden Arrows (1-0) and later to Cape Town City (2-1).
