Orlando Pirates further asserted their dominance over rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the second leg of the MTN 8 semifinal at FNB Stadium, where they won 2-0 to book a spot in the final against Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Buccaneers won the first leg 3-0 at Orlando Stadium, through goals from Zakhele Lepasa, Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch.

One of the goal-scorers on the day, Lorch was not available for selection for the second leg after sustaining an injury in midweek league action.

That did not seem to have hampered Josef Zinnbauer’s men too much, as they scored two goals in the second half to take the aggregate score to an emphatic 5-0.

The first came on the hour-mark after a superb run from man-of-the-match Deon Hotto, whose shot was parried by Chiefs keeper Daniel Akpeyi into the path of Fortune Makaringe, who tapped in from close range.

Second-half substitute Linda Mntambo provided the second from the counter, finishing past the Nigerian international to give Amakhosi ann even steeper climb if they were looking to make an unlikely comeback.

There was no way back, as the Buccaneers booked a spot in the last two against Celtic, while Chiefs have to pick up the pieces again in search of their first piece of silverware since 2015.
