Sifiso Hlanti has played for a variety of local teams for over a decade since starting out his career at Golden Arrows, while he has become an important member of the Chiefs squad since heading to Naturena in 2021.

According to recent reports, the experienced Bafana Bafana left-back is highly valued for his experience and leadership as Chiefs continue to go through a rebuilding phase.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and it’s said that he did receive an extension offer, as reported by SABC Sport.

That report stated that Amakhosi have been keen to keep the defender even if it is on a short-term deal, with the option for a one-year extension expected to be triggered.

However, it’s now been shared by popular online source Unplayable that the 33-year-old could in fact end up leaving the club because “the offer to extend for another season is lower than the contract that expires on 30 June, which means he must take a salary cut. The two parties may part ways.”

CHIEFS RECENTLY ANNOUNCED THE EXIT OF TWO VETERANS

One of Kaizer Chiefs’ longest serving players, Erick Mathoho, has already left the club at the conclusion of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

Mathoho, who is now 33, joined Chiefs in July 2012 as a 22-year-old from Bloemfontein Celtic, where he spent three seasons.

Midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange has also been released by Chiefs on the expiry of his contract. The 31-year old signed for Amakhosi from Stellenbosch FC in July 2021.
