Kaizer Chiefs welcome Supersport United to FNB Park this evening, with both sides looking to chalk up their first win of the new season.

Amakhosi were held to a disappointing 1-1 at Bloemfontein Celtic over the weekend, a game which they dominated but failed to seize the initiative. Frontman Bernard Parker reflected on the match and saw it as two points dropped:

“The energy was right and the team spirit was on point, even though we should have accelerated after having scored the game’s opening goal. Celtic tried to come at us in the second half, but we looked solid in defence. It was only one incident that got them the equaliser.”

United will make the short trip to Joburg without influential midfielder Dean Furman: He’s suspended following his sending off in the Tshwane derby over the weekend.

United beat Chiefs 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the MTN8 in Durban 10 days ago, and will fancy their chances again tonight despite Furman’s absence.

Kaizer Chiefs V Supersport head-to-head record

In the last 10 fixtures, The Chiefs have beaten SuperSport five times. There have been three draws, and United have beaten them twice. However, Amakhosi are four games without a win against their Tshwane opponents.
