Wholesale changes are expected at Kaizer Chiefs following yet another underwhelming season.

The Glamour Boys finished outside of the league’s top eight while also failing to lift any silverware last season.

And now, former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star Thuso Phala has issued some stern transfer advice to the Amakhosi.

Phala, who represented the Glamour Boys between 2007 and 2009 believes the club have no senior players ready to lift them out of their downward spiral.

According to the legendary winger, Kaizer Chiefs need to break the bank and sign players from rivals club Mamelodi Sundowns!

Kaizer Chiefs urged to sign Sundowns players

“Go out there and spend money! Even if it means go to Mamelodi Sundowns and buy those fringe players who are not playing regularly,” Thuso Phaala told the Mike Morton Talks Football podcast as quoted by Kick Off.

“Buy them out of contract, give them big contracts. They say money doesn’t buy everything, but in this instance, money will buy them something. This building of young players, at Chiefs there is no time to build.

“A big team like Kaizer Chiefs also can’t afford to be out of the Top Eight. It’s unacceptable and you know it affects a lot of fans and it affects South African football. I think Chiefs needs to be seen there.”

Kamohelo Mokotjo was closely linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs before eventually putting pen-to-paper at Sekhukhune United at the beginning of last year.

Mokotjo himself confirmed talks with the Glamour Boys however, Brandon Truter managed to convince the well-traveled midfielder to join his side instead.

Mokotjo made 50 appearances for Babina Noko and now, reports suggest he’s ready to open the next chapter in his career.

The former Brentford and FC Twente star has recently been linked with a move to Cape Town City FC however, a return to Europe is still on the cards!

Former Chiefs target eyeing European return?

“At this point it looks like Cape Town City might win the race for his signature because he hasn’t renewed his contract with Sekhukhune from what I know,” a source told Citizen.

“Don’t rule out a move back to Europe because Kamo is keeping his options open. He wants a new challenge after doing a good job at Sekhukhune and he brings a wealth of experience that Cape Town City can benefit from.”
