Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a major boost in terms of playing personnel after three key players returned to training.

Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic who has been out with a knee injury since August has returned back to training at Naturena.

Kaizer Chiefs welcome two stars back from injury!

“I have had this injury niggling me for a while now, the medical team felt it was best to get the operation done. Further assessments will be done after the operation. The medical team will give me a timeline on the recovery process after that.” – the Kaizer Chiefs striker said at the time.

Another player that has also returned to fitness for Stuart Baxter’s side is Lebogang Manyama.

The former PSL Player of The Year has struggled with injuries this season however the ongoing AFCON break has done him well according to assistant coach Arthur Zwane.

“So far so good in terms of the response from the boys. It hasn’t been easy obviously because we are coming back from a situation.” Zwane told the Kaizer Chiefs media department.

“And of course getting about 10 to 12 days of rest, spending some time with our families gave us the opportunity to reflect. Coming back now this year and also for the second round of the PSL games, it’s going to be demanding.

“I think in our six days of training now the boys are not looking bad, they look good, even those who are coming from injuries like Samir Nurkovic are coming up well.

Lebogang Manyama also looks good. From the sessions, the boys have responded positively and Kaizer Chiefs are looking forward to the games.”

Forgiven and forgotten?

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Dumisani Zuma has also returned to the training field at Naturena after months out in the cold following his arrest.

The midfielder was suspended by the club and placed in a rehabilitation program after he was arrested for drunk driving in November 2021.

Zuma’s agent however has confirmed that the midfielder has returned to training at Kaizer Chiefs suggesting he’ll be given a second chance at Naturena.
