In today’s Kaizer Chiefs transfer news and rumour wrap, the club are resigned to losing a talented defender. One of their major targets could also spurn their offer.

Is Ngcobo leaving Kaizer Chiefs?

30-year-old central defender Njabulo Ngcobo will likely be leaving Chiefs for free after the Glamour Boys allowed his contract to wind down. His manager has said there’s no shortage of suitors for his signature.

“Kaizer Chiefs is a professional club, they communicate about their intentions. Unfortunately, they have not said anything about Njabulo Ngcobo,” Sboniso Ngubane (Ngcobo’s manager) previously told SABC Sport. “We are in talks with different clubs in the DStv Premiership, including AmaZulu FC,” he added. The agent also said that Sekhukhune had entered the fray.

“When SABC Sport contacted his manager Sboniso Ngubane on Sunday, he did confirm talks with Sekhukhune United, but refused to give away much regarding the player’s next move,” the report said.

“We are still negotiating with them,” Ngubane told the public broadcaster’s sports desk,” the report added. “The final decision is expected to be announced before the end of June, with Chiefs also set to make pronouncements regarding changes to their squad, including a new coach.”

Nwabali has bigger fish to fry…

Chippa and Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, wanted by Kaizer Chiefs, is on many wish lists around South Africa and abroad after his displays at Afcon for the Super Eagles. According to his goalkeeper coach, the 28-year-old stopper will be leaving the Chilli Boys.

“On physical hard copy paper, I don’t know how many offers he has received. But verbally, he has around 10 or even 12 offers,” Chippa’s goalkeeper coach Sean Louw told FARPost. “He is not coming back to Chippa next season.”

“When he arrived at Chippa, he wasn’t very proficient with his footwork, unable to play from the back,” Louw added on Nwabali’s arrival from Nigeria’s Katsina United in 2022. However, he has improved his footwork significantly.

“I have made him understand that football is a business, and he is a brand. He is not just a player. His brand needs to extend to the other side of the world,” Louw concluded.

Will Chiefs regret letting Ngcobo leave the club?
