Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: R6 million-worth star set for crunch talks

Kaizer Chiefs star reported to be worth R6 million is set for crunch contract talks as he’s entered the final six months of his current deal.

Kearyn Baccus is the player in question, and his agent Mike Makaab has told Isolezwe that there will be talks with Chiefs over the midfielder’s future.

Baccus joined Chiefs on a free transfer in 2020, signing a two-year deal with the Soweto giants – that contract expires in June 2022.

And while Baccus’ first year at Chiefs looked promising, his lack of game time this season has been worrisome.

Makaab admitted that Baccus, like any other player, isn’t happy with his lack of game time at Chiefs, saying all the Durban-born star wants is to play.

KAIZER CHIEFS AND BACCUS SET FOR CRUNCH TALKS

“We are preparing to go talk to Chiefs about various issues that affect Baccus’ future,” said Makaab as quoted by the publication.

“He’s a very good player. Unfortunately, he’s no longer getting game time. It’s common knowledge that a player wouldn’t be happy if he’s not playing regularly.

“He’s a player that just wants to play,” added Makaab.

Baccus has featured three times for Chiefs so far this season, and with the likes of Phathutshedzo Nange, Njabulo Ngcobo and Cole Alexander well ahead of him in the pecking order, chances of him featuring regularly are minimal.
