Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has reacted to Siyabonga Ngezana‘s shock move to Romanian giants Fotbal Club FCSB.

On Thursday, Chiefs broke the news that Ngezana had joined the 26-time Romanian champions for an undisclosed fee.

Ngezana leaves Chiefs with 123 competitive matches under his belt since making his professional debut in 2017.

Now, Motaung Jr has admitted that there is a ‘tinge of sadness’ in seeing Ngezana go after so many seasons of commitment to Chiefs.

Motaung indicated that it is Ngezana who felt he needed a new challenge abroad, and Chiefs couldn’t stand in his way but to support him.

“There is always a tinge of sadness when a player who has risen through the ranks here leaves the Club,” said Motaung Jr to the Chiefs website.

“However, Siya has had a good and substantial career at Kaizer Chiefs and feels the time is right to take up a new challenge.

“We appreciate his wholehearted commitment to Amakhosi and wish him well on his exciting adventure to Europe.”

NGEZANA IS KAIZER CHIEFS’ SECOND ACAMEDY GRADUATE TO BE SOLD IN SIX MONTHS

Ngezana becomes the second Chiefs academy graduate to be sold to an overseas club in the space of six months after Njabulo Blom in January.

Blom joined Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit St. Louis City SC in the United States in January after showing huge improvement in his game.

Now, Ngezana will hope to join a long list of South African players who are flying the country’s flag high overseas.

Furthermore, Ngezana is the second player to officially leave Chiefs this off-season after Erick Mathoho who was deemed surplus to requirements.
