Ex-Kaizer Chiefs skipper stops training with SuperSport United – report

Matsatsantsa are expected to bring in a three or four players for the new season, but they will not consider the axed Amakhosi captain.

Former Kaizer Chiefs skipper Ramahlwe Mphahlele has reportedly stopped training with SuperSport United who welcomed him at their base in Tshwane last week.

According to iDiski Times, Mphahlele is not part of the Matsatsantsa squad that traveled to Polokwane for the pre-season camp.

“iDiski Times has now learned that the former Bafana Bafana centre-back has stopped training with Matsatsantsa and he’s not part of the team that is in Polokwane for pre-season.”

Mphahlele, 32, has been without a club since his departure from Amakhosi earlier this month, and there was no deal in place when he started training with SuperSport United.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns captain may now have to look elsewhere, especially now that the new season is two weeks away from getting underway.

Mphahlele, who spent six years at Chiefs between 2016 and 2022, perhaps had hoped to sign for SuperSport United following the appointment of Gavin Hunt as head coach.

The pair worked together at Naturena for almost a season although Mphahlele didn’t really feature regularly under Hunt during that period.
