Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Edmilson Dove’s contract details

Former Cape Town City utility player Edmilson Dove is officially a Kaizer Chiefs player after putting pen to paper on Thursday.

Dove had been training with Amakhosi since last week after being requested to come over for an assessment under the watchful eye of Arthur Zwane.

Confirming his presence at Naturena at the time, Zwane admitted that the left hand side of his Chiefs defence needed to be reinforced.

And that’s because of injuries to S’fiso Hlanti and Sibusiso Mabiliso, leaving Austin Dube as the only natural left-footed defender in the team.

Now, Dove has officially signed, and in announcing his arrival, Chiefs confirmed all the details around his contract with them.

HOW LONG DID EDMILSON DOVE SIGN WITH KAIZER CHIEFS FOR?

According to a statement by Chiefs, Dove has signed a two-year deal with an option to renew for a further year at the end of the original deal.

What this means is that Dove will be at Chiefs at least until June 2024, and it could be until 2025 depending on whether or not the club still needs him beyond the expiry of his two-year deal.

At 28, the Gaza-born left-footer is undoubtedly at the peak of his career, and he could play for Chiefs well into his 30’s if he contributes positively towards the team’s success.
