Kaizer Chiefs have officially withdrawn from the race to sign a Europe-based star midfielder after being faced with challenges during the negotiations.

According to Mike Makaab, Amakhosi’s chances of signing Kobamelo Kodisang are dead even though the midfielder’s loan move to Primeira Liga side Chaves has collapsed.

Just last week, Kodisang’s loan move to Chaves was almost a done deal but it emerged that Braga SC were not satisfied with certain things that forced them to pull the plug on the proposed deal.

Makaab said all he wants is for Kodisang to stay in Europe and play topflight football than being loaned out to a second division club or return to South Africa.

But what Makaab understands is that Chiefs have already filled the position that Kodisang plays, meaning they are not going to pursue his services further.

“They gave it their best shot and now we can see that Braga isn’t an easy club to deal with. They’re a big club in Portugal and these clubs in Europe are not easy to deal with,” said Makaab to Gagasi FM as per iDiski Times.

“I think the chances of that happening are not great, I think that deal has come and gone. Kaizer Chiefs have quite rightly withdrawn because they’ve already filled that position,” he said.

“The focus for us now is to ensure that KK stays in Europe and plays at a top level in Portugal,” added Makaab.
