BREAKING: Kaizer Chiefs part ways with Bafana Bafana defender

Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the decision to part ways with Bafana Bafana defender Sibusiso Mabiliso.

Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the decision to part ways with Bafana Bafana defender Sibusiso Mabiliso.

In a statement released on Friday, Chiefs said Mabiliso’s contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The left-footed Bafana Bafana international had joined Chiefs at the start of last season from AmaZulu.

And he was tipped to survive the chop when Chiefs embarked on a mass exodus as he was relatively new to the team and had not been given a fair chance.

However, the two parties came to an agreement to part ways – meaning Mabiliso can now join a club of his choice before the closing of the transfer window.

Mabiliso leaves Chiefs having made just six appearances across all competitions in the one season he spent with them.

The 23-year-old made his Amakhosi debut against Mamelodi Sundowns on 12 September 2021.

Ironically, he leaves on the eve of Chiefs visiting Sundowns in the two teams’ first meeting of the 2022-23 season on Saturday.

Mabiliso’s departure also comes hours after Chiefs signed Edmilson Dove on a free transfer – the former Cape Town City man is likely to be used both at left-back and centre-back.

KAIZER CHIEFS PART WAYS WITH SIBUSISO MABILISO

“Kaizer Chiefs and defender Sbusiso Mabiliso have parted ways after his contract was terminated by mutual consent,” said Chiefs in the statement.

“We thank Sbu for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”
