Kaizer Chiefs are closing in on the signature of a highly talented Ethiopian star according to reports.

Stuart Baxter’s side have set their eyes on star Ethiopian forward Abubeker Nassir if the reports are anything to go by.

The 21-year-old caught the attention of Kaizer Chiefs during Ethiopia’s back-to-back Fifa 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Bafana Bafana.

Nassir could be on his way to Naturena in January if Stuart Baxter’s side can strike a deal with Ethiopian Coffee FC.

Kaizer Chiefs closing in on star foreign signing?

“Kaizer Chiefs like the player but they have five foreigners and want to loan out one during the January window with the hope that they will have agreed on the transfer fee with his club.” a source told Kick-off.

“Moving to South Africa will not be so much of a culture shock for the player as there are many Ethiopians resident in South Africa. He can adapt easily in South Africa and then move to Europe with ease afterwards.

“The plus is that the player is interested in moving to South Africa though the club is beginning to feel they should wait for the AFCON where they could get offers. There is already also interest from lower division clubs in Europe,”

The same publication went on to reveal that Kaizer Chiefs will have to fork out almost R4 million to land Abubeker Nassir in January.

The Amakhosi have reportedly been boosted by the return of a number of first team players to training following their COVID-19 fiasco.

Kaizer Chiefs missed their previous two league matches after returning 31 positive COVID-19 cases. The club however still await the PSL’s decision regarding their absence.
