Kaizer Chiefs are leaving nothing to chance in terms of going for their transfer target ahead of next season.

Chiefs will be looking to address some shortcomings in their squad, with a clear out expected soon as well.

Chiefs need wholesale changes

One of the biggest factors in that for Chiefs will be a new coach. It is largely expected that Nasreddine Nabi will be the man at the helm next season. Upon his impending arrival, he will also have some big decisions to make with the current crop of players at the club. One of the biggest decisions he will have to make is deciding who stays and who goes. Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Sifiso Hlanti and Itumeleng Khune are in danger of leaving. But it is believed that it is not only the players out of contract at risk of leaving the club.

Players such as Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane are also thought to be at a crossroads at Chiefs. One other player that was mentioned in the same breath earlier last season is defender Zitha Kwinika. With that list then it is, perhaps no surprise that the club are looking to reinforce both in attack and defence.

According to Soccer-Laduma, they are waiting for Nabi, before deciding on a potential double deal. This would be involving Cape Town Spurs duo Rushwin Dortley as well as Ashley Cupido. It is believed Chiefs will have competition in SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC.

R16 million for Dortley and Cupido?

“There is a bit of a concern for the coach at Spurs as he is likely to have some of his players from this past season on their way out. It’s quite a difficult one but it is also the nature of the football business especially during these tough economic times. Ashley Cupido and Rushwin Dortley won’t be there next season and you can guess between Chiefs and Stellenbosch on where they are possibly going, as well as the club you have mentioned (SuperSport). They are as good as gone,” said the source.

Previously, it had be suggested that Dortley is priced at R6 million while Cupido at R10 million. Will Chiefs fork out R16 million to bring the Spurs duo to Naturena?
