Kaizer Chiefs to miss out on Zungu as Amiens set the record straight

Kaizer Chiefs are likely to miss out on acquiring the services of reported target and Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu.

Kaizer Chiefs are likely to miss out on acquiring the services of reported target and Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu.

Zungu was linked with a possible move to Chiefs just before he departed Glasgow where he was on a season-long loan deal at Rangers.

Over a month ago, a report emerged that Chiefs had already set up a meeting with Zungu, and that the club was prepared to meet his salary demands.

However, that seems unlikely to happen as Zungu, who is still contracted to French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC, looks set to stay for the upcoming season.

Amiens SC president Bernard Joannin confirmed that Zungu is an integral member of the squad at the unveiling on Philippe Hinschberger as the new manager.

“Bongani Zungu, who is returning from Glasgow on loan, will be an excellent recruit,” said Joannin in a statement.

The news of Zungu possibly making a return to the PSL to join Chiefs brought excitement among the club supporters.

And that’s because they know the quality that Zungu possesses as a midfielder having dazzled the country with his brilliance whilst on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns.
